the i might say smth stupid remix is a 10/10
the way it kicks in at 2:43 is so self-titled coded, it doesn't last long but there was something so sickeningly nostalgic about hearing such a go down, soft sound-esc bit from the 1975 in 2024
in summary, mattys voice was amazing, charli was subtle but i liked that because it matched the vibe, overall the song was way better than i expected, and idk who jon hopkins is but i like him too!!
i will now listen to this song on repeat and let it change my life <3

Starcicle Playlist for it's making me insane
Hi!! I saw someone mention starcicle playlists on twitter and a while back someone asked what songs they should listen to when reading immi and well here i am to share the songs that inspired the fic and the ship in general for me!
Since I can't share playlists, i'll have to link the songs individually, whomp whomp, but anyone is welcome to add them to their own playlist or throw them into a separate one if they'd like! maybe just give me or the fic a shout if you do the latter haha
No spoilers for the fic! I just use music for the beats and sometimes general vibes
enjoy ☆–-
*ੈ °✩₊• ‧₊˚✧˖°⁺˚⋆。 ˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ °✩₊•✧˖°.☾ ₊ ° •⁺˚⋆
Without You- Francis Aud Warmth- Bastille Downward- Ripe Nervous- Origami Button Life was easier when I only cared about me(robotaki remix!!)- Bad Suns Apogee- Tycho (and if I like that then i have to share the remix) Round and Round- Imagine Dragons You’ve Got Me Flush- Future Generations The entire album by Olen called who’s gonna love me( when I’m not young)- a very Charlie sounding album in general but Human Touch is ☆—- Glue- Daulton Hopkins Adecentcupofcoffee- Bilmuri Turn- the Wombats All Over- CRUISR Fireflies- Owl City Room for You- Sub Radio Repaint My Mind Blood Orange- The Wlflfe (2 songs, once cross fades into the other- charlie-centric) You've Got Something- The Jungle Giants 2 Rocking Chairs- Jon Bellion I Wear Glasses- Mating Ritual Waste a moment- Kings of Leon Show Me What I'm Looking For- Carolina Liar Evergreen- Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners Simpsonwave1995-FrankJavCee The Fighter- The Fray Burnt Out- Imagine Dragons Tree House by Cinders This version of Sweden by C418 this criminally short video is just the inside of Étoiles’ head whenever Charlie is just- Charlie Having a Party by Sam Cooke ( both this and this version) Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)- Edison Lighthouse creature- half.alive Fish Tank- HARBOUR Opening Up- CRUISR Hard to Love- The Mowgli's
Note- now my word isn't gospel for starcicle music, this is just personal music I listen to that reminds me of them or directly inspireds my fics. it's always growing lmao
also some of the lyrics may not match them, but the musical aspects are what got me, for example: without you which is what inspired the title of the fic but it doesn't necessarily fit them lyrically since it's a breakup song but instrumentally it's a bop. Same with Apogee - it's a dancing in the kitchen late at light kind of song and the remix is a tense/hopeful tango or something. That or I'll fixate on a line
I'll let you know if I ever add more- also feel free to ask questions if you want!! I love talking about music and fics <3
cheers :D

Album Review of the Week: Charli XCX Brat + brat and it's completely different but also still brat (2024)
After 2022's "pop star" experiment with Crash, Charli XCX decided to do things her own way with the unapologetic Brat. The album as a whole prances between scathing club beats, synth bass lines, vocal tricks and genuinely vulnerable admissions.
Club classics, Von dutch, B2b, 365 and Spring breakers are the best examples of that break-neck club sound. I especially love the lyricism in the 2nd verse of Spring breakers - describing a bombing of sorts. The delivery is so blasé that it takes a few listens before you realize she says "and I just laugh when the bodies go splat!"
I might say something stupid, So I and I think about it all the time are the most vulnerable of the bunch. It almost feels wrong to comment about the lyricism in the first two as it feels so personal. I really appreciate the vocal delivery on I might say something stupid, it really reels you in to take it seriously. Even though I cannot relate at all, I enjoy listening to I think about it all the time because the melody there is so interesting and especially the humming bit - there is an enchanting whimsy about it.
There are a couple of songs that I did not like very much at first, but now they are a couple of my favorites! When the chorus begins on Sympathy is a knife, that belt is almost euphoric. The production is especially great on this one, the vocals are tinny in a really engaging way. Although it gets quite repetitive in the end, the manic vocal delivery on Everything is romantic is really engaging as well. It seemingly makes no sense, but I can't stop listening!
After Brat took the world by storm, similarly styled billboards started appearing in multiple locations saying simply "caroline polachek" or "ariana grande" in reverse font which sent rumors of a remix album swelling to a fever pitch! Finally, in early October, we got brat and it's completely different but also still brat with remixes and features from a whole bunch of different artists! I really admire that she was able to pull this off, a lot of the artists were already in her circle but we get some new artists pulled into her hyperpop world that typically don't have their voices on top of beats like these! Some of these remixes just have the beats ramped up a little bit with a new artist on verse 2 - however some are completely different songs! It is also interesting because a lot of the new lyrics were written after the original album blew up so we get lyrics like in B2b featuring tinashe that talk about touring the world and finally making it.
Guess featuring billie eilish and Girl, so confusing featuring lorde basically replace the originals. I adore Lorde's verse - the whole song is really honest but her verse is very vulnerable and it was really fun to hear her voice in such a different soundscape. Talk talk featuring troye sivan is in the same boat as well, except the new version is a bit more punched up. I cannot get enough of Troye's vocal delivery when the chorus starts up! An immaculate vibe.
A couple of new versions that I don't really like: Club classics featuring bb trickz has too many elements from 365 rather than the original Club classics, although I do like Bb trickz verse! I might say something stupid featuring the 1975 & jon hopkins sucks out all of the emotion from the original and smushed it into something gray and boring (and is 3x as long as the original while we're at it). While I adore Julian Casablancas' vocals, I just can't get into the Mean girls remix - it takes too many elements away that I love from the original.
At first, I didn't love Everything is romantic featuring caroline polachek, but eventually it did click. While it can never beat the original, Polachek adds a woodsy whimsical vibe and her vocal runs are romantic. Sympathy is a knife featuring ariana grande could never replace the original either, and this new version is completely different - so it can certainly stand on its own. I especially love the giggle when Ariana says "who the f* is she??"
I think about it all the time featuring bon iver was really well done. It lacks the whimsy of the original but transforms into this chill soundscape that doesn't compromise the original message. I really enjoy the opening lyrics that details how quickly the years go by during a cycle of creating/promoting/touring an album.
365 featuring shygirl really punched up the original! 365 doesn't quite hit that manic vibe that it seemed to want to portray, but the remix certainly does it perfectly! The synthy bass runs throughout and gets you moving!
This was an amazing, fully fleshed out album era and I am loving it! I hope it gets some love at the Grammy's - with 7 nominations!

Life´s too short for weird music Tagesempfehlung 17.11.2024
Sunday Album Club: Charlie xcx / Brat and it´s completely different but also still brat
Track: Mean girl (feat. Julian Casablancas)
Neben vielleicht dem bereits an dieser Stelle präsentierten I think about it al the time (mit Bon Iver) (Tagestipp 15.10.2024). Das Brat Remix-Album ist perfekt auch ohne Brat (The Originals) zu hören und zählt für mich schon aufgrund seiner spielerischen Herangehensweise und seines Wagemuts zu den ganz großen Alben des Jahres 2024.
Anspieltipps: 360 (feat Robyn and Young lean),  I think about it all the time (feat. Bon Iver) und Mean Girls (feat. Julian Casablancas)
(9,5 von 10)

rhubiqs presents: Resolved
It's a feeling
Tumblr media
"A short but emotive melodic electronic track in the style of Actress and Burial. Part of my album 'Aegis of Silence' which it's out now". rhubiqs
Check the single Resolved in Spotify:
rhubiqs is the solo project of London-based musician Tom Squires.
As rhubiqs Squires creates far-reaching electronic and ambient post-rock sounds inspired by the likes of Mogwai, Caspian, Jon Hopkins, Bardo Pond and Boards of Canada.
rhubiqs debuted in 2019 with the self-titled rhubiqs EP and quickly followed it with the much heralded Motifs in F# Major EP. Buoyed by the success of these EPs, rhubiqs returned to the studio during the Autumn of 2019 and started work on his debut album.
1st May 2020 saw the release of this much anticipated debut album - Migratory Paths.
On Migratory Paths rhubiqs has further honed his warm, well-rounded sound and has included an astounding post-rock cover of Julee Cruise's haunting song 'Falling'; better known by many as the theme tune to the television series Twin Peaks.
The record also closes with a remix by Mr. Mitch, the London grime-scene stalwart who calls Planet Mu Records his home alongside electronic greats such as Venetian Snares, µ-Ziq, Machinedrum, DJ Rashad and Luke Vibert.
